Social and Digital Media, Intern

Job Description: The Social and Digital Media Intern will be in charge of assisting Producers/Directors in planning, coordinating, and implementing all social media campaigns. Applicant duties will include connecting with designers, stylists, make-up artists via social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.), generating followers and retention (page views, impressions, likes, comments) via social media platforms and assisting with all other aspects of social media campaigns. Other duties will include contacting, connecting, and following up with bloggers in the Midwest area to generate positive publicity about upcoming Midwest Fashion Week.

Strong attention to detail is required. Basic operating knowledge of Excel is preferred.


Marketing & Graphics Design Intern

Job Description: The Marketing & Graphics Design Intern will be in charge of working with Producers and Directors in creating advertisements and marketing tools for all Midwest Fashion Week events. Applicants will typically be creating flyers, event invitations, programs and pamphlets, and other print materials. Applicants demonstrating a superior knowledge of Photoshop skills and editing could also be asked to touch up photographs from Midwest Fashion Week to submit to various publications, media sources, and blogs.

Strong attention to detail and organization skills required. Applicants MUST HAVE a strong working knowledge of one or more of the following applications: Photoshop, InDesign, Publisher, and Illustrator. Design major or strong design background is preferred. Applicants MUST submit three relevant samples of their work along with their resume.


Web Design Intern
Job Description: The Web Design Intern will be in charge of working with Producers and Directors in maintaining the Midwest Fashion Week website. Applicants will typically be working with small front-end editing (mainly HTML based). Applicants with superior knowledge could be asked to help create a new design for Midwest Fashion Week.

Strong working knowledge of HTML is required. Knowledge of CSS, HTML5, PHP, Perl, Ruby, ASP, Python and other web design languages is preferred. Applicants should submit either a code sample or an example of a site they have developed or helped develop along with their resume.


Public Relations Coordinator

Job Description: The Public Relations Coordinator will be in charge of assisting all Public Relations Interns in completing their assigned tasks. Applicant duties will include following up with other interns on a regular basis to ensure quality and timeliness of work, and brainstorming and coming up with creative methods to achieve posted goals. Applicants will also be required to coordinate all Public Relations Interns during the dates of the actual events and following up to ensure all media sources have been checked in, accounted for, and seated.

Strong leadership qualities, attention to detail, and organizational skills are required. Basic operating knowledge of Excel is preferred.


Editorial Intern

Job Description: The Editorial Intern will be in charge of copy editing all major publicized, recorded or presented information given by Midwest Fashion Week. Applicant duties will include assisting Producers and Directors in writing and editing speeches, press releases, thank you letters, etc. Other duties will include researching and issuing briefs.

Strong attention to detail and creativity is a must. Speech writing experience preferred. Applicants must include two writing samples with their resume that demonstrate their ability to write in formats required.

Print and Broadcast Media, Intern
Job Description: The Print and Broadcast Media Intern will be in charge of assisting Producers and Directors in contacting, connecting, and following up with all print and broadcast outlets. Applicant duties will include correspondence with newspapers, radio stations, and television stations to ensure their participation and coverage of Midwest Fashion Week. Other duties include coordinating with Editorial Interns on submitting and confirming press releases to print and broadcast media sources and following up with media sources after the event to ensure satisfaction and positive press.

Strong attention to detail is required. Journalism or communications major preferred. Basic operating knowledge of Excel is preferred.


Production & Planning

Promotional, Launch, & After Party Coordinator
Job Description: The Promotional, Launch, & After Party Coordinator will be in charge of assisting Producers and Directors with organizing all aspects of the February promotional activities, launch, and after parities. Applicant’s duties will also include organizing logistics, working with the financial analysis interns with budget coordination and ticket sales.

This is a job for a creative individual, with strong organizational skills. Experience in event planning and organizing is a must.


VIP Courtesy Coordinator

Job Description: The VIP Courtesy Coordinator will be in charge of contacting sponsors &/or retailers to donate items for guest bags for MFW events. Applicant’s duties will include researching potential brands, networking to find individuals in charge of product samples and requesting and confirming samples for each event. Other duties will include assembling and distributing the gift bags at each event and ensuring that all VIPs are satisfied.

Strong leadership qualities, attention to detail, and organizational skills are required. Basic operating knowledge of Excel is preferred.


Event Vendor Liaison

Job Description: The Event Vendor Liaison will be in charge of assisting Producers and Directors with organizing and communicating with vendors to assure smooth presentation of all events. Applicant’s duties will include confirming researching, contacting, and confirming vendors, collecting payments, setting up vendor’s schedules and areas. During the March events the Event Vendor Liaison must be present to set up and coordinate all vendor spaces and ensure satisfaction with all vendors.

Strong leadership qualities, attention to detail, and organizational skills are required. Event planning experience or background preferred. Basic operating knowledge of Excel is preferred.


Logistics Coordinator

Job Description: The Logistics Liaison will be in charge of working directly with the Designer Liaison and directly with the designers. Applicants will communicate frequently with designers to facilitate their travel and/or accommodation and be responsible for all the fashion (clothes, accessories) shown in the show. Applicants will also be responsible for the delivery, packing, styling, and return processes. During each of the events in March, the Designer Liaison will oversee the dressing area and ensure that all designer needs are met.

Strong leadership qualities, attention to detail, and organizational skills are required. Fashion or design major preferred. Basic operating knowledge of Excel is preferred.
