Elda de la Rosa is a highly prominent and recognized, couture designer from Chicago with a national and international following. The prestige of her atelier is grounded in her sensibility for designs that are inspired by vintage detail, created with an unmistakable feminine flare and impeccable attention to fit.
De la Rosa has received significant recognition for her work and was chosen as one of the top 10 finalists for the Oscars Designer Challenge in 2010. Her gowns Elda de la Rosa Couture are featured across fashion circles, and are regarded as among the best hand crafted garments seen in today’s high fashion world. Each piece highlights each woman’s femininity, beauty and romantic affinities that bring the creative edge to life through her designs and innovative mind.
De la Rosa’s clients range from celebrities to socialites, and fashionistas, including Chicago’s very own Candace Jordan, NBC5 anchor Zoraida Sambolin, on-air FOX32 personality Sylvia Perez, heir to the Tootsie Roll Corporation and many more.
Her designs have been featured in fashion and high-profile local and national magazines such as Hispanic Executive, Chicago Sun-Times SPLASH, Chicago Social, Michigan Avenue, Sheridan Road Magazine, Naperville Magazine, Chicago Social Bride, Chicago Tribune, and trendy, chic blogs, including Candace Jordan’s celebrity blog “Candid Candace.”
In addition to her custom, couture designs, Elda also serves as lead illustrator and tailoring director for Chicago-based ready-to-wear luxury label ricorso.
In 2016, she assumed the new role of design director for its second label – ricorso occasion – partnering her gown and special occasion talents with ricorso to produce seasonal and event-based design capsules. Elda will also serve the lead designer for the PlayCHIC Fashion Show 2016 – TWISTER’s 50th Anniversary in Chicago.
De la Rosa is a graduate of the Chicago Institute of Art, also serves as a teacher and a guest lecturer at the iconic institution. Elda often is invited to serve as a guest speaker and panelists across Chicago to talk to diverse audiences about her experience and passion for creativity and design.
Elda de la Rosa started her business in 2000 where she grew from being a one-woman shop to hiring employees, interns and having one store locations where her designs Elda de la Rosa Couture are sold–one shop in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood. Her dresses are also sold in The Lake Forest Shop.
Elda de la Rosa hopes to inspire a new generation of designers with her approach to couture gown creation.
