I create womenswear that is sophisticated and feminine with a playfulness that comes from mixing silhouettes, textures, and styles. I draw inspiration from everything I see, but mostly from current high fashion and fashion history. I graduated from Brooks College in Long Beach with a degree in fashion design and was one of seven students featured in California Apparel News for my final collection, which was described as “smartly tailored, sexy secretary pieces.” I honed my dressmaking and fitting skills during my internship with Kiki Originals, a custom bridal and formal gown shop in Long Beach, but I eventually moved back home to Indiana. It is here that I eventually started my sewing blog www.sewlalove.com, as well as my own line.
The name LaLove is a trifecta to me – it’s a play on my last name, an homage to LA where I was blessed to study fashion, and most importantly, it’s a reminder that this line is a way to use my talent to bless other people and show the love of God wherever I can. I love dressing women who not only wear clothes to make a statement, but also as an expression of her personality, position, mood, and goals. My clothing helps them to exude their inner creativity, life, and fun.
