Sierra LaFaye Powell
Sierra LaFaye Powell is a native Chicagoan studying Apparel Design with a minor in Spanish and a concentration in Retail Business from Purdue University. As a junior, she studied abroad a full academic year in Spain in order to learn the language. However, she was blessed with an extremely rare opportunity to live with Rosario Vazquez, a fashion designer and instructor of couture fashion. Sierra went on to work with two very well-known fashion designers, Ion Fiz and Rosario Diaz. Rosario Diaz was the designer for Nancy Reagan while in the White House, and Ion Fiz is a celebrity designer who semiannually shows his garments in Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in both Spain and Paris.
During her internships, she was able to work all across Europe which helped her get immersed in European culture, expand her knowledge and experience in fashion construction, and also develop a high level of proficiency in Spanish. Sierra has not only worked backstage at multiple Mercedes Benz Fashion Weeks, but she was also able to model at Paris Fashion Week this past October 2015. She has also booked many modeling gigs since the age of 15; from catalog print for Wilson Sporting Goods to commercials for Six Flags Great America, and runway modeling in Los Angles to name a few.
