What. A. Year. While the world was caught between the pandemic and a “new normal,” fashion persisted and continued to bring joy to individuals around the world. Virtual Paris Fashion Week F/W 2021

When Spring rolled around, it was time to showcase the Fall/Winter 2021 ready-to-wear collections of our designers during Virtual Paris Fashion Week. Due to travel restrictions, this year’s event was partially filmed at the Indianapolis Artsgarden, home of Midwest Fashion Week Indy. Watch the show here.

L’Officiel Feature

For the first time in its 100-year history, midwest fashion was highlighted in L’Officiel magazine via a feature on Midwest Fashion Week. We couldn’t be more thrilled to help put the midwest on the global fashion map!

By late summer, we were preparing for our next global event and were featured in another notable fashion publication, GQ South Africa, on the Top 9 Things About Midwest Fashion Week.

CONNEXIONS South Africa

Later that same month, we hosted CONNEXIONS in Johannesburg, South Africa – our first in-person fashion event since the pandemic began. This event featured networking, live entertainment, shopping, and a runway showcase featuring the collections of seven designers. Watch our CONNEXIONS highlight reel to relive the magic!

Virtual Paris Fashion Week S/S 2022

Days later, we premiered our Spring/Summer 2022 Virtual Paris Fashion Week featuring Midwest Fashion Week Director Berny Martin’s label Catou. Filmed in the heart of Paris, this 70s inspired collection tells the story of love in the new world. Watch it now!

Tee Up: Fashion for a Cause Golf Outing

Midwest Fashion Week’s charitable sister organization the Fashion Community Foundation (FCF) was also hard at work living up to its mission this year. In October, they hosted a charity golf outing in Carmel, Indiana to raise money for its many programs.

Global Fashion Indy

By November, we were back in the swing of in-person events and hosting another great fashion show, this time in Indianapolis at the International Marketplace Coalition’s Global Village Welcome Center. This event featured an art exhibition, international food and drinks, as well as a runway show featuring local designers of diverse backgrounds. FCF Scholarships

Throughout the year, the Fashion Community Foundation also had the honor of awarding scholarships to budding midwestern entrepreneurs looking to start businesses via its Julie Marie Scholarship Program. To date, 20 community scholarships have been awarded for a grand total of $18,075! Learn more.
