By April, Knocked Up Fabulous
Even though this Chicago winter hasn’t been too brutal, I’m already obsessing over spring. Warmer weather means the chance to leave the heavy jackets behind and show a little skin.
Dresses are definitely in high-rotation for me once the temps start to rise. They are so easy to wear and require very little extras to make a complete outfit. And actually, the perfect dress can take you from running errands during the day, to a dinner party at night with just a few quick and easy accessories changes.
I love little black dresses for this very reason. They are classic pieces that can be worn anywhere from cocktail parties to weddings. But, LBDs aren’t just for night! They can easily be worn during the daytime, too.
During the day, I like wearing my little black dresses with a simple pair of sneakers. It’s comfortable and makes running around oh-so-easy. A backpack or crossbody bag also makes any daytime errand a bit easier to get done. I love either style of bag because they help keep my hands free. A cute little leather jacket fits nicely with LBDs too. I like the edginess that it adds to the dress…toughens things up a bit.
Once night rolls around, it’s just a few simple switches of accessories. Sneakers come off and heels get slipped on. Nude pumps are my favorite, especially ones with a pointed toe. They elongate the legs big time. A smaller bag is perfect for a night out. I still prefer one that can be worn crossbody. (Mostly because I like to have my hands available for drinks and dancing!) I tend to reach for ones with metallic details. It keeps things dressier for the night’s festivities.
If you’re looking for an excuse to slip on a dress and show off some skin, get your tickets for Midwest Fashion Week’s Fashion for a Cause happening on Saturday, April 1st at the Godfrey Hotel. All proceeds will benefit The Holiday Heroes.
